King Spydamann | Devil Tried ft. Willie Millionare and Jabez the Mic Prophet

Devil Tried was an opportunity for me to vent a little bit about my street life experiences and post prison life. My fellow artists on the track also were able to get strong messages off their chests. Jabez was actually in the process of writing a similar song to the same sample when I asked him to feature so it was like destiny for us to collaborate here. We shot the video as a comedic spin on feeding the homeless as an attempt to raise awareness for homelessness in ATL.

King Spydamann started pursuing music professionally after living in Clair-mel City, Florida. He and his friends in Decatur where he grew up used to rap and write songs, but it wasn’t until he lived there that he actually took it seriously. He met a group of artists calling themselves CMC Allstars and saw how serious they were and everything they were doing which wasn’t much but it was light years ahead of his views on being a rapper. When he went back to Decatur he formed a few groups trying to recapture what was learned in Florida. Dramatized Commission was the first (He, Jabez, Spit Fire, Chris, Jas). It didn’t work out so Spit Fire recruited C.A.L.A.V. (Dyrti C) and the trio formed Verbal Violence. Eventually a friend at school introduced him to Classico from Mystyc Family and Verbal Violence joined the Mystyc Family movement. Mystyc Family did a few things in the early 2000s. Most notable was the underground release of their first album, Mystyc World. Then Spit Fire, another close friend, J-Threat and King Spydamann were caught by police for carjacking. They served ten years. During that time Mystyc Family went on to release Booty Bounce, but kept in touch. Upon his release he vigorously pursued his career releasing several singles, a mixtape with Mystyc Family, joined the cast of Atlanta Hit Makers, joined the creative collective Yoshicrew, and published the fictional epic novel series The Red Bricks of Krusck.
