Esther | Met Gala

The song, “Met Gala”, is Esther’s debut single. It uses creative storytelling to share Esther’s testimony of how she came to the faith. The song is quirky, fun, upbeat and resonates with both a pop and hip hop audience. Esther shows how dynamic she is as an artist throughout the song by singing and rapping. Esther writes, sings, raps and produces. Esther wants to pioneer a new sound, that she calls ‘evangelism pop’, through the song and future releases. The song references the New York ‘Met Gala’ to communicate a message that Jesus is greater than all the things of this world. In the rap section, Esther says she ‘met Jesus of Gala-lee’ as a play on words of ‘Met Gala’. With her wordplay, puns and pop culture references, Esther aims to bridge the gap between secular and Christian music for the purpose of fulfilling the Great Commission.

Esther is a UK-based Christian pop artist with a distinct and recognisable sonic identity. Her unique selling point is that she makes genre-bending Christian music that can pass as mainstream pop, but still top traditional Christian charts. Esther’s music is popular among Gen Z. She uses aesthetic images, quirky captions and beautifully written poems to reach a like-minded audience. Esther prefers the nickname “E-star” on her social media platforms, as both a reference to the Christian holiday of Easter and a testament to what she stands for: making entertaining content online (as E-star can mean internet star). Esther leaves “Easter eggs” in her poetry and social media, making her projects an interactive shared activity for her audience. Her inspiration is Michelle Williams for her international Gospel hit song, “Say Yes”. Esther makes music for people of faith and no faith background, because she believes that Gospel is for everyone.
